No
more singin´the blues ?
A
new season, a new GM, the St. Louis Blues today announced
their very new general manager, a familiar sight for Blues
fans, who once again hope that this time, everything will
change finally and that the team once again play in the
playoffs, and one day for the cup. With a lot of players
traded the new Gm, Boris von Kürthy is facing a difficult
challange, still
the Blues chairman was happy at the press
conference, "Yes, I am reliefed we got a new GM, but no,
we did not just grabbed the first best out there, we had some
long talks and we know we can reach our goals with the current
GM. We never know what the future may bring, but we look for a
long and strong relationship."
Stevens
- New York bound
The
Rangers are sure they got the key player now when
they traded for Scott Stevens. He immediately
signed a new 4 year contract, rumours out of New
York say that Stevens will make around 20 mio $ -
US ! Also Stevens was announced the new captain of
the blueshirts. While the signing is surely a
right step to finally be a playoff regular, there
is still a long way for the Rangers to compete for
the cup.
To
NY Rangers: Jamie Pushor, Thomas Steen, AVS 1997 Rnd 2
To Avalanche: Brent Bilodeau, Jeff Shantz, Jere Karalahti, Kay Whitmore,
Rick Bennett, Tuomas Gronman
I think Pushor can help that rangers team alot, still I think they gambled
on that 2nd rounder, they hope the Avs will once again be down and that
2nd rounder might be as valuable as a late 1st - I do not really think so,
I see that this Avs Gm has done an outstanding job so far, and that team
might have a chance to play in the playoffs for the first time in its
short existance. While the team still lacks of a true superstar, their
depth only gets better with Shantz,Bilodeau and Karalahti - the others can
also step up when needed. Whitmore is a valuable backup goalie who might
see some icetime with thenew rule.
To Nordiques:
Dimirti Khristich
To Jets: Todd Hall
To Sabres:
Robert Cimetta
To Devils: Marko Jantunen

Bruins,
Hawks sign new coaches
When
the season is through and it didn´t work as planned,
what do you do ? A trade here and there, some
adjustments... And yeah, hire a new coach, that is
what those two teams did. And we see two of hockeys
all time greats behind the benches of Chicago and
Boston. Bob Gainey takes over the Blackhawks and
Butch goring is back at coaching wwith the B´s.
"Last season was a good one, this season we
should take another step.", Gainey said in a
brief statement. Goring also had some words,
"After sitting out nearly 2 years, it feels
great to be back. I missed hockey, I am happy I am
back, and I promise to those great Boston fans, that
I will do everything that needs to be done to make
the Bruins a tough place for visitors, and a regular
in the playoffs again."
